Warehousing Case Study
After the first store was opened in Sydney and a successful presence gained in the Australian market place, the retail chain made a decision to open further stores around the country. A Melbourne location was carefully chosen and plans were underway to develop and stock this new site. Once a freight forwarding partner was chosen and a launch date was agreed, we were approached to look at the logistics of coordinating stock deliveries using a detailed schedule.
Liaising with an international freight forwarder and TM Lewin staff, containers were organised to be delivered to our warehouse to be unpacked, sorted by style, and labelled.Ai?? A detailed delivery plan was developed after a site visit to the new store. Due to high volumes of stock and restricted unloading access, we worked within tight delivery windows to ensure each vehicle arrived and departed in succession. We provided labour on site to unload the freight and deliver to store.
We have now successfully assisted in the opening of two further Melbourne stores and one in Brisbane. We currently control stock movements from the UK into our warehouse and distribute using the same proven methods. More retail outlets are now planned and we look forward to building on this great partnership. By managing the whole supply chain with different stakeholders, we were able to provide a defined and predictable service from start to finish.
